Improving laptop battery utilization in windows

Laptops are getting sophisticated, faster, lighter. The one thing still trailing behind is the battery. Following are things you can do on your laptop to conserve power and extend its Laptop battery life.
Power Scheme Mode – -
Selecting the right “power scheme” will help to prolong the life of laptop battery. Use the “Low Power Mode” since it will not consume more power than “Max Power Mode” battery.
To adjust battery setting: Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance. Click on the “Power Options” icon. The power setting window will appear, make your settings from there on.
- – Stop Background Programs – -
Pressing the Ctrl + Alt + Delete simultaneously to bring up the Task Manager. Under the first tab (Applications), you can see all the current “open” programs that are running on your laptop, try to close the background from your Dell inspiron e1505 battery.
Click the Process tab, next to the Applications. You will see all the real-time processing items on your laptop, kill those that you are not using. All the unused programs but are running will increase the CPU usage, which in turn will cause a lots of wasting power. You can determine which ones to disable by reading the titles on the processing list.
- – Screen Brightness – -
Control the brightness of the screen according to your environment. Dell xps m1530 battery screen use plenty of power, too.
- – Disk Defragment – -
Hard disk is a big consumer of electricity. The more efficient the hard disk the less power it use. To minimize read-write head movement, defrag your hard disk regularly. If you use your Sony laptop battery all the time, do it once every 2 or 3 months. All hard disks should be defragged at least once each year, regardless a laptop or desktop.
To defrag: Start > Performance and Maintenance. On the list under the title “Pick a task…”, first, select “Back up your data”. Then come back to the main menu and choose either “Free up space on your hard disk”, or “Rearrange items on your hard disk to make programs run faster”. The latter is recommended. Follow the steps to complete process.
- The Temperature Factor – -
Your IBM laptop battery will operate more efficient when temperature is cool. Make sure the vents are not blocked.
- – Avoid Multitask – -
Try to work on one thing at a time and close unnecessary windows or applications. You might be tempted to work and finish many projects at once, but this will also drain your battery faster, and you may run out of battery before you complete your work. You are also using power when typing, using mouse or touch pad – they are all electric signals, same with the plugged USB ports.
- – Disable Wireless Signal – -
WiFi sip a lot of juice from the battery. Turn off the wireless signal if you are not using, you will save up to 30 minutes of power.
- – Storing Battery – -
Charged battery unused for a long time would deteriorate it. Keeping a spare Dell inspiron 1501 battery is not recommended because lithium-ion batteries need to be “exercised”. Only buy new battery when you know that your current one (in use) is about to expire. Once charged, a battery should slowly be used. Frequent charge and drain will shorten laptop battery lifespan.
- – Hibernate, not Stand-by – -
If you want to start up your laptop faster, use Hibernate mode as that would save the last state of your system, it will then shut down the entire power to the laptop. Stand-by only lowers power consumption as safty code
